After their Champions League final win over Chelsea in a penalty shoot-out in Moscow, Manchester United's Alex Ferguson has deservedly received praise for the total of honours he has won during his coaching career.

Former Liverpool boss Bob Paisley's name was also mentioned and his array of honours is also impressive, to say the least. Critics have suggested that Ferguson is the best manager of modern times and Paisley the top boss of the past.

Torres's total of 24 league goals since joining Liverpool from Atletico Madrid sets a record for goals scored by a foreign player in his first season in the Premier League. The overall total of 33 is also a record for a baptism campaign.

The FA Cup is won by Portsmouth (1-0 triumph over Cardiff) for the first time since 1939. A name from outside the game's mega-rich top four sides has won the cup for the first time since 1995, when Everton defeated Manchester United.

Also, the FA Cup has been won by a side led by an English manager, Harry Redknapp, for the first time in 13 years since Joe Royle edged Alex Ferguson in the 1995 final (Everton vs Manchester United 1-0).

Moreover, this is the first time in 17 years that a pair of English managers, Redknapp and David Jones, contested an FA Cup final, since Tottenham's Terry Venables and Nottingham Forest Brian Clough took the limelight in the 1991 final (2-1 for Spurs).

For the first time in European Cup history, no foreign side has succeeded in ousting a team from England in the 2007-08 Champions League competition.
