The launch of EMERG

Electronic communications regulatory authorities in the Euro-Mediterranean region have joined forces and formed EMERG - a Euro-Mediterranean network of Regulators Group.

The aim of this group is to strengthen cooperation and set up a network that aims to facilitate the sharing of experiences and the organisation of neighbourly cooperation.

Malta currently occupies chairmanship of EMERG and together with representatives from Austria, Egypt, the European Commission, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey recently participated in the launch meeting held in Malta. A declaration on the founding of EMERG was agreed to by all participants in Malta.

A plan of activities was also formulated for the coming year until the next meeting which is scheduled to take place in Morocco.
