Seville's finest set for another fiery show

For the fifth year running, Puerto Flamenco, featuring Seville's finest flamenco artists, is making a stopover in Malta.

Fresh from the Khamoro Festival in Prague, where they premiered snippets of their latest production Apacheando, the eight-strong troupe from Seville promises to outdo last year's standing ovation performance at the Malta Arts Festival.

Maltese Francesca Ċikka Grima and Andrej Vujicic are presenting two award-winning male dancers: Last year's star of the show, Jesus Herrera, with his breathtaking, masculine rawness; and Marco Jimenez of gypsy temperament, farruco style and immaculate footwork.

Apacheando is featuring one of the foremost young flamenco guitar soloists, Eduardo Trassierra, together with El Tudela, one of Seville's most experienced dance accompanists, and the energising voices of the crowd's favourite, Josè El Tremendo, as well as phenomenal Ana Gomez, bringing all the flamencura from her native Cadiz.

After touring Australia, Europe and Russia, Puerto Flamenco will visit Oslo, Romania, Athens, Moscow, Kiev, Morocco and Holland later this year. Their productions have earned international acclaim.

The show will be held on Friday and Saturday at the Argotti Gardens in Floriana, as part of the Malta Arts Festival, which is supported by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts, the Culture Ministry, the National Lotteries and Good Causes Fund within the Finance Ministry, HSBC, BOV, the Malta Tourism Authority and the Valletta local council and under the patronage of the Spanish Embassy in Malta.
