Young man charged with drug trafficking

A 20-year-old man was yesterday remanded in custody after he was charged with trafficking and possession of heroin.

Dustin Caruana, of Tarxien denied trafficking and being in possession of heroin in circumstances that indicated it was not for his exclusive use on and before Saturday.

Police Inspector Jesmond Borg told the court that there were more witnesses to be heard and he, therefore, asked the court to deny bail. Defence lawyer David Gatt asked the court to consider that only five grammes of heroin were found on the accused.

Magistrate Miriam Hayman remanded Mr Caruana in custody.

Lawyer David Gatt appeared for Mr Gatt.
