Passenger stable, driver still critical

The 45-year-old Mosta man who was involved in a head-on crash on Saturday night is still in a critical condition, the police said yesterday. The man, who was driving a Skoda, was involved in an accident with a Mercedes in Triq Durumblat, Mosta.

The condition of the passenger in the Mercedes, a 41-year-old from Marsa who was also in a critical condition, is now stable, the police said.

Police said trenches had been dug along part of the road and the drivers drove through a section of the road marked No Entry.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged and the Mosta man had to be extracted from the wreckage by personnel from the Civil Protection Department.
