Helena Dalli, the Labour spokesman on the shipyards, has denied ever having been informed beforehand of the government’s intention to privatise Malta Shipyards, as she said, was implied by the finance minister in Parliament last week.

She said two meetings she had had with the dockyard senior management were about productivity levels and their impact on the financial position of the dockyard. Privatization was never mentioned.

Neither had she ever received a report which said that the only road for the future of the shipyards was privatisation, Ms Dalli said.
