A 59-year-old Maltese woman died while swimming at Daħlet il-Qortin, Armier, the police said.

The woman was brought ashore by her relatives at about 3 p.m. and was administered first aid but was certified dead by a doctor who accompanied paramedics in an ambulance.

Duty Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera has opened an inquiry. The police are investigating.
