Poetry evening in Victoria

Charles Bezzina's new poetry anthology Meta Siket il-Baħar was launched at a poetry evening held recently by the Maltese Poets Association in Alley No. 1 of Triq Mons. Farrugia, Victoria.

Earlier, association president Alfred Massa spoke about the sacrifices poets have to make and the risks they face whenever they publish their poetry, and about the need to recognise the beauty of this art. Mr Massa thanked Mr Bezzina for his constant loyalty and contribution to the association.

Some poems from Meta Siket il-Baħar were read during the evening by both Gozitan and Maltese readers and poets.

Joe Engerer and Walter Micallef entertained the gathering by playing classical and folk guitar pieces.

Poet and writer Anton F. Attard gave an interesting short talk about the historical background of the poetry evening's venue. Mr Bezzina then thanked those present for making the activity a success.
