The British Grand Prix will switch to Donington Park from Silverstone in 2010. Donington Park's website said the circuit's co-owners Simon Gillett and Lee Gill had signed a 10-year agreement that included an investment of 100 million pounds over a five-year period. The surprise decision represents a huge blow for the Silverstone circuit.
Bernie Ecclestone said he expected a new commercial agreement governing the sport to be signed after settling his differences with motor racing chief Max Mosley. The pair have been publicly clashing for months over control of the sport with Ecclestone also calling for Mosley to stand down after a sado-masochist sex scandal. "The bottom line is simple, we have moved to patch up our differences," Ecclestone said.
Melbourne will continue to host a Formula One Grand Prix until at least 2015 after agreeing to start the race at 5 p.m. local time to make it more television friendly for northern hemisphere audiences. Bernie Ecclestone had threatened to take the Australian race to Sydney or scrap it completely.
