Labour women congratulated for anti-abortion stance

Gift Of Life has congratulated the Malta Labour Party for its stand against parts of a resolution referring to a woman's right to abortion proposed at the Congress of the Socialist International Women held in Athens on the June 27 and 28.

"Gift of Life is delighted that the Labour Party Women's section in their objections stated that their 'organisation is totally against abortion and that the right of the unborn to life is viewed as the very first human right...'," said the NGO. "Gift of Life augurs that this stand will not only be taken on an international level but that the government and the opposition will collaborate to affirm this position also locally as soon as possible through an amendment in the Constitution of Malta that clearly extends this right to life to the unborn child."
