Jazz Fringe! is showcasing the eclecticism and variety of jazz forms by presenting some of the more prominent names on the European circuit at the Argotti Gardens, Floriana.

Tonight's show will be opened by Berlin bred Christoph Adams, whose piano playing and versatility has elicited the interest of many well-known musicians such as Woody Shaw, Lew Soloff, Perry Robinson, John Taylor Lonnie Plaxico.

After touring and recording with these big names, Mr Adams, as composer, pianist and arranger, focused on his own projects. He has found his own style and musical language, through being placid and gentle, yet dynamic.

Having already released four CDs as a bandleader, his latest production Bossa No Piano pays tribute to his special love - Brazilian music.

The closing act features Nico Gori, one of the most important figures to emerge from the contemporary Italian jazz scene and winner of the coveted Massimo Urbana Prize.

Mr Gori is also a welcome voice on one of jazz's less played instruments, the clarinet. Firmly anchored in the Bebop tradition, but with a penchant for innovation, Mr Gori's versatility has led him to become one of the most sought-after musicians in European jazz circles. This project unites him with Maltese guitarist Sandro Zerafa.

Meanwhile, this morning Sergio Krakowski, a pandeiro (tambourine) virtuoso, will be giving a workshop in Brazilian techniques at the Independent Space, Warehouse No. 8, off Racecourse Street, Marsa at 11 a.m.
