Auditor mayor to run for MLP financial secretary

Xagħra mayor Joe Cordina is to contest the post of financial secretary in the Labour Party's elections for administrative posts to be held on August 4 and 5.

Mr Cordina is an auditor/accountant and has served as president of the Gozo Football Association. He said yesterday he believed the party needed professional people especially for certain positions such as that of financial secretary.

To have professional political parties would be beneficial for the country, he said.

The post is currently held by Tommy Dimech.

Mr Dimech said when contacted yesterday he was still thinking about whether or not to contest the post.
