"Substantial" amount of cash stolen
A man escaped with a “substantial” amount of cash when he grabbed a bag held by another man outside the vegetable market in Ta Qali this morning, the police said.
The incident happened at about 9 a.m. The man holding the bag, who is 72 years old, was about to enter the Pitkali when the thief drove up in a car and grabbed the bag. It contained several thousand euro, informed sources said.
The thief appeared to have been neither armed, nor hooded.
Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna is holding an inquiry.
