An old clock at Kercem parish church is to be restored after not having worked for 30 years.

The large mechanical clock is being dismantled from the belfry and will be restored by the teachers and students of Wistin Camilleri Gozo Centre for Arts and Crafts. They were currently undergoing a Mechanical Clock Repair and Restoration Course.

The restoration project is being supported by the Ministry for Gozo.

The clock was made by Gananton Tanti in 1764 and is thought to have been acquired by Kercem parish church from Senglea many years later.

The clock is expected to be back in operation in a year’s time.
