An argument between two men over a bottle of detergent led to one of them suffering slight knife wounds, a court heard this morning.
Marco Marotta, 37, an Italian living in Sliema, pleaded guilty to attempting to cause serious injury to Orazio Antonio Puglisi and to causing him slight injuries with a knife. He also admitted theft with a value of under €23.
Police Inspector Anna Maria Micallef told the court that the two men had been friends for 25 years. She said the victim had told the police that he never expected his friend to go into his house to steal detergent.
Legal aid Renzo Porsella Flores said this was a fight over something silly.
Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna after considering that the accused had a clean criminal record, sentenced him to a year in prison suspended for two years.
