Yacht hit by bullet off shooting range
A magisterial inquiry has been launched after a sailing yacht reported being hit by a bullet while sailing off Pembroke ranges yesterday.
The incident happened at about noon when the 32-foot Mistress Elusive was about a mile off the ranges, which are used by the AFM.
A bullet was found lodged in the bridge of the yacht. No one was injured.
Ballistics expert Brig. Maurice Calleja has been appointed court expert to assist in the inquiry.

Aren't the waters in proximity to the ranges supposed to be closed, and boat commanders supposed to adhere to the instructions issued by the AFM? It is sorry to note that even after all warnings and notices by the Armed Forces have been issued, some irresponsible vessel commanders still completely and selfishly ignore the warnings and navigate through these waters endangering themselves and their passengers of which on some occasions are even tourists. In the air, a seven nautical mile danger area is activated during small arms fire and is strictly enforced. Can't the same be done on the sea?
