A motorcyclist has been awarded €23,000 by a court following following a traffic accident that occurred in January 2005.

The judgment was delivered by Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco in an action filed by Godfrey Ciangura against Carmen German.

Mr Ciangura told the court that he had been riding his motorbike in St Dominic Square, Rabat, when Ms German, who was driving a car collided into him. He claimed that he had suffered a permanent disability as a result of the accident.

The court heard evidence from eyewitnesses that it was Ms German's car which had hit the motorcycle with her right front mudguard. Ms German said that she had not seen Mr Ciangura until the last minute, but Mr Justice Farrugia Sacco concluded that Ms German had not been keeping a proper lookout and that she was responsible for the accident.
