Sixth formers in public speaking competition
The Catenian Association is running a public speaking competition for sixth formers as part of its centenary celebrations.
Heats have been taking place in various schools in Malta and the finals will be held at St Patrick's church on Friday at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
The winner and runner-up will be flying to Manchester in September to take part in the Catenian Association's international public speaking competition. All expenses will be paid by the association.
The association is a lay organisation composed of Catholic professional and business people. While helping their members towards a better life, the association also helps young Catholics in the pursuit of their careers and by sponsoring them in their voluntary work in the third world.
While working and praying actively for vocations to the priesthood, they raise money for a wide variety of charities and promote the Christian viewpoint on moral issues in an increasingly secular society.
The Catenian Association is expanding and now has three groups in Malta and one in Gozo.
For more information about the association, or about the public speaking competition, one may contact Michael Borg Cardona on bcs@onvol.net or 2133 0363.
