GWU willing to form common front on fuel prices
The General Workers' Union yesterday said it was willing to work with the Malta Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprise - GRTU and other organisations in a common front against high fuel prices.
The GWU said it shared and supported the GRTU's stand that the government should lower duties on diesel.
The union said it had long been arguing that the government should not profit from higher fuel prices by increasing its revenue from fuel duties.
The union also complained that the government was ignoring the social partners when it failed to consult with the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development.

Ok according to the GWU the Government should lower it's duty on fuel but we are not told from where Government would get the money to make up for the shortfall.. We still cannot face up to realities and pretend that what happens in the world around us cannot hit us. The fuel cost is hitting all other countries and whatever everybody says it is hitting us too. Make no illusions and please do not try to give the illusion that you have a ready solution when there is not.
