Two 18-year-old Englishmen were yesterday conditionally discharged for one year after they admitted to stealing €230 (Lm98.71) from a bar in Paceville.

Both young men, who reside in Birżebbuġa, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Michael Mallia to stealing the cash from Stilleto Bar on Saturday at 3.30 a.m.

The court heard Police Inspector Martin Sammut say that the money had been returned to the bar owner and that he had wanted to waive criminal proceedings against the two.

Before handing down judgment Magistrate Mallia took into consideration the fact that the two men had fully cooperated with the police.

Police Inspectors Trevor Micallef and Martin Sammut prosecuted.

Lawyer Chris Cardona appeared for the men.
