A 19-year-old man from Pietà was yesterday remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to trafficking in ecstasy.

Magistrate Michael Mallia heard Matthew Carter deny trafficking and being in possession of ecstasy in circumstances that denote it was not for his exclusive use, and the possession of cannabis resin. He was allegedly found in possession of the drugs on Saturday.

Police Inspector Jesmond Borg argued against bail, telling the court that investigations were underway involving other people.

Lawyer Malcolm Mifsud appeared for Mr Carter.
