Some are more equal
Could any learned friend or court expert for that matter explain to me why a person accused of attempted murder gets to pay €50,000 to be granted bail and someone else accused of identical charges gets to pay €800 only?!
Is it a case of one life being worth more than another?

Could it be the case that the victims contradicted themselves and each other during their witness?!?!

Nationality isn't what I was talking about. A millionaire drug runner has a greater chance of taking it on the lam than the average Joe. The higher the bail, the greater the chance of the defendant sticking around to retrieve the money when the trial is over.
If you would have shed some light on both cases in your letter, it would have helped.

Actually the person that paid the €50,000 is Maltese too so I don't see it being a case of one trying to flee justice more than the next guy.
Something seems wrong here and it would be of great interest to find out why different weights and measures were used.

The amount stipulated usually depends on how possible it is for the defendant to leave the country to avoid jail.
