Thank God that Giovanni Trevisan and Veronica Galea (Raising Phoenix In Valletta, June 27) were not involved in the rebuilding and renovation of the world's most famous theatres, such as the Wiener Staatsoper, Vienna or Teatro La Fenice, Venice or better still the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, even the largest theatre in Italy, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.
Those "ignorant" Austrians, Venetians, Milanese and Palermitans were stupid enough not to encase their patrimony in a sarcophagus of glass.
I also thank God that Mr Trevisan was not commissioned, at least I hope not. I do not see anything remarkable in his ideas!
Finally, I do agree with Ms Galea that the government should ensure that the theatre be properly rebuilt after taking into consideration its potentiality, economics, land use and professional administration.
Long-term plans are also necessary that will consider a macro approach by integrating all ancillary facilities, potential audience and foreign tourist attraction.
Yes, it is high time that the government gets cracking; study all options and suggestions while at the same time recognises that the inner circle of advisers is not necessarily always right.
Even the self-proclaimed "experts" can at times be wrong.
