Obituary

BUSUTTIL. On June 28, PAULINE née Cachia, widow of Carmel, aged 85, slept peacefully in death at the home of the Little Sisters of the Poor, Ħamrun. She leaves to mourn her loss her loving children Bro Victor Busuttil SJ, Mary, Michael and his wife Martha, Joseph and his wife MaryAnne, her grandchildren Joanne, Elaine, Jeremy, Daniel, Aimee, Daphne and their spouses, her 12 great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. Mass will be said at the chapel of the Little Sisters of the Poor, Ħamrun, today at 2 p.m. followed by interment. The family wish to express their wholehearted gratitude to the Sisters of the Poor and all the helpers for their dedication and loving care shown towards our beloved mother throughout the 14 years at the home.

IMBROLL. On June 26, FREDA of Sliema, residing at San Ġwann, aged 59, passed away peacefully at her residence, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her irreplaceable loss her husband Anthony, her children Manuel, Andrei and his wife Daria, Marilena and her fiancé Maarten, and Fabio and his wife Maria, her siblings Tony, Rose and her husband Noel, Joe and Ramon and his wife Marika, her parents-in-law Henry and Carmela, her in-laws Mario, Catherine and her husband Henry, Anna and her husband Paul, Louise and her husband Michael, all her nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. A special thanks goes to Josephine, Anna and Ray, Rita, John and Doris, Silvio and Aloysia, Jean Pierre and Nathalie and Carmelo who helped all the family during her long illness. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for San Ġwann parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. May the Lord grant her eternal rest.

THEUMA. On June 29, ANDREW, aged 82, of Msida, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Ġuża, his daughter Lina and her husband Dr Christopher Mercieca, his sons Dr Hubert Theuma and Police Inspector Dennis Theuma and his wife Rachel, his grand children Adrian, Robert, Therese, David, Christine, Francesco-Pio and Gabrielle, his brothers and sisters and in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Karin Grech Hospital tomorrow at 7.30 a.m. for Msida parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8 a.m. followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Dar tal-Providenza of Siġġiewi will be appreciated.

VASSALLO. On June 29, PAUL, of Rabat, passed away peacefully at Mater Dei Hospital, aged 78. He leaves to mourn his wife M'Dolores and his children Rita and her husband Raymond, Beatrice and Richard, Joanne and her husband Paul, his nephew Gilbert, his brothers and his brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital at 3.30 p.m. today for St Dominic parish church, Rabat, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 4 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Margerita Cemetery, Rabat. No flowers by request but donations to Dar Tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi will be greatly appreciated.

VELLA. On June 28, at Karen Grech Hospital, PAUL, of Mellieħa, widower of Mary née Baldacchino, close to his 96th birthday passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved children: Daughter Mary, his sons John, Charlie, Tony, Joe and Paul, and their wives, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his brother John Mary and his sister Marianne, nephews and nieces and friends. The funeral leaves Karen Grech Hospital tomorrow at 2.30 p.m. for Maria Bambina parish church, Mellieħa, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m. followed by interment at Maria Omm il-Ħniena cemetery, Mellieħa. No flowers by request but your prayers will be greatly appreciated.

Chinese language course

A course in spoken Chinese consisting of 10 sessions will be held every Tuesday and Thursday between July 8 and August 7, open to both beginners and to those who already have some basics of the language.

The course is being organised by the China Cultural Centre and will be held at its seat in Melita Street, Valletta.

A longer language course consisting of 30 sessions and having three levels targeting different groups will be held every Tuesday or Wednesday from the end of October to the beginning of next July.
