Two admit stealing cash

Briton Daniel Jack Hennessy, 18, and Reece Alfred Borg,18, both from Birzebbuga, were conditionally discharged for a year this morning after they admitted before a court to stealing €230 from Stilleto Bar in Paceville.

The court heard Police Inspector Martin Sammut say that the money had been returned to the bar owner. The owner had wanted to waive criminal proceedings and the two fully cooperated with the police.

SUDANESE GRANTED BAIL

In another case, Daniel Haile Tesfamihret, 24, a Sudanese resident of Birkirkara was this morning accused of having caused grievous bodily harm to Abraham Ghebre Michael Brhane in an incident near Tiguglio in St Julians early on Sunday.

Inspector Martin Sammut told the court that the accused had wanted to get inside the building for a party and to get his wife out of there. He was intoxicated and fought with one of the guests who did not allow him into the venue. He left, but returned and an argument ensued.

The victim was discharged from hospital this morning.

The accused was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €1,000

ACCUSED OF DRUG TRAFFICKING

Matthew Carter, 19 of Pieta’ was this morning accused of trafficking and possession of ecstasy and the possession of cannabis resin. He was allegedly found in possession of the drug on Saturday.

Police Inspector Jesmond Borg argued against bail, telling the court that investigations were underway involving other people. Carter was kept in preventive custody.
