A Somali man was given a one-year jail term suspended for two years yesterday for seriously injuring a co-national and assaulting two police constables on Saturday.

Abdul Rezaq Hussein, 29, admitted to injuring Abu Baker Muhammed Ali in Marsa, assaulting and threatening two police officers, disobeying them and breaching the peace.

Police Inspectors Mario Tonna and Ramon Mercieca prosecuted.

The police said earlier in a report that the injured man was admitted to Mater Dei Hospital suffering from fractures.
