The Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta, has awarded the Cross of Officer of the Order Pro Merito Melitensi to Noel Caruana Dingli in recognition of his contribution to research about the Knights of Malta and French language.

Dr Caruana Dingli is a senior lecturer and co-ordinator of French at the University of Malta's Department of Arts and Languages in Education.

The investiture ceremony took place last Sunday following a Pontifical High Mass held at the Oratory of St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta.

His latest book Les Livres Français De Malte. Bibliothèques, Langues Et Société (XVIII Siècle), was published locally last month.
