No more road licence renewals at ADT offices
Vehicle road licences will from Tuesday only be renewable through insurance agencies or online through the 'e-Vera' system on the Malta Transport Authority (ADT) website www.licenzji-vetturi.gov.mt.
The authority said that almost 90 per cent of all 300,000 road licences were already renewed online or through insurance providers.
Renewals will only be processed over the counter at the ADT offices at Floriana in exceptional cases where discrepancies existed.
To process renewals using the ADT website, one must input online the last four numbers of a vehicle's engine number which may be found on the vehicle's registration certificate (log book), the ID card number of the vehicle's registered owner, and the details of a debit or credit card.
The e-Vera system provides details of all charges due, including any fines and CVA charges due, which must be settled as part of the renewal process.
In the case of renewals processed online, the authority will send the renewed road licence disc within three working days by registered mail to the specified address.
For further information visit the authority's website or contact its customer care department on Freephone 8007 2309 or e-mail: customercare@maltatran sport.com.

I refer to the comment by Joseph Buttigieg and must add that It takes the insurance agent time to issue the road licence and everyone knows time is money. If anything the government which is saving bags of money by implementing this system should reduce the road licence by € 2.33 to ensure that the citizen is not penalised. To my mind this is a classic example of how the government (irrespective of colour) works

Yet another 2.33 euro (Lm1) rise on the road tax. Thats how much it costs you to renew the road licence with your insurance agent.
