The Mnarja agricultural show was held this morning at Buskett, drawing hundreds in the early morning and keeping up a tradition which goes back generations.

Prizes for the best exhibits were handed out at the end of the event by Acting President George Hyzler and Resources Minister George Pullicino.

In a speech Mr Pullicino went over developments in the agriculture sector, pointing out, among other things, that a master plan for a new vegetable market is being drawn up.

A measure to further help vine growers is also to be announced shortly.

He said the ministry has set up a committee to promote local produce including milk, meat fruit, vegetables, wine, olives and honey.
