The Emirates recruitment team will be in Malta once again looking for exceptional people to build their careers with the Dubai-based international airline. An Open Day for cabin crew recruitment will be held on Saturday at the Intercontinental Malta, St Julian's.

The Open Day activity starts at 9 a.m. and will last for most of the day. The information session will include a presentation by two Emirates recruitment officers, followed by interviews. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend further assessments and a final interview, which will be held between Sunday and July 8.

Candidates must be 21 years or over at the time of application. The basic requirements for applicants are an education up to, at least, Matriculation level and fluency in written and spoken English. The ability to communicate in other languages and previous experience in customer service and hospitality are considered added advantages.

Interested candidates will have the opportunity to meet the recruitment team and present their CV and full-length passport-size photographs in business attire. Alternatively, candidates can complete the application form online and attaching the required photographs at www.emirates.groupcareers.com from now.

Paul Fleri Soler, Emirates manager in Malta and Cyprus, said: "The ongoing recruitment sessions in Malta reflect the success of the cabin crew recruited from Malta and the continued interest by the Maltese for such posts. This is the 16th call since Emirates started operating flights to Malta in 1998."

"Given Malta's strength as a tourist destination in the Mediterranean region and focus on the travel, tourism and hospitality industry, the visiting recruitment officers find a high number of quality service oriented people, with an excellent command of English and the drive to perform in a dynamic, multicultural working environment," Mr Fleri Soler added.

Emirates offers an attractive tax-free package, furnished air-conditioned accommodation and 30 days annual leave. Other benefits include first-class medical care, transport to and from work, airline flight benefits and end of service gratuity on completion of a three-year renewable contract. Successful candidates will be located in Dubai.

Emirates currently employs 124 Maltese, most of them based in Dubai. More information can be obtained from www.emiratesgroupcareers.com.

Emirates Airline's 16,000-plus uniformed staff are also to be given a sharper, more business-like look with the introduction of a brand new uniform.

The new, stylish and contemporary look will be unveiled when the airline receives its first A380s over the next months. The cabin crew assigned to Emirates' flagship aircraft will be the first to wear the new uniform.

The current beige and red female uniform draws attention around the world each day as cabin crew members travel throughout the airline's international network of 99 destinations in over 60 countries.

Terry Daly, Emirates' divisional senior vice-president, Service Delivery, said: "The Emirates uniform has been the same since 1997, with a few tweaks here and there. In this new design we have addressed style, comfort, the suitability for different climates."

Mr Daly continued: "I'm immensely proud of the in-house team from Emirates who worked with UK-based uniform supplier Simon Jersey plc. Using a catalogue approach with mix and match items, they have produced a superb uniform that can be adapted to suit different environments and climates. This is vital when the conditions on the ground for staff can vary from Sao Paulo in Brazil to Newcastle in England to Hong Kong in Asia."

The most noticeable elements of the new uniform, on the women's side, include beige piping detail on the new red hat, subtle red pin stripes throughout, more fitted, chic blouses and eye catching, red kick-pleats in the skirts.

Male cabin crew members will wear a chocolate brown suit, also featuring pinstripes, with a cream shirt and a caramel, honey and red tie.

Emirates' A380 cabin crew will be the first to wear the uniforms onboard, with a full roll out across all 16,000 cabin crew and uniformed ground staff expected to be completed by May.

Emirates flies five times weekly from Dubai to Malta via Larnaca in Cyprus, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays on the Boeing 777-300. From December, Emirates will be operating flights to Malta on a daily basis.
