Gozo is being ruined

It's becoming increasingly obvious that Gozo's villages are losing their character and are starting to resemble urban areas in Malta. The problem is that character houses and farmhouses are being demolished and replaced by geometric flat houses. This ruins the villages' architectural harmony and means a great loss for Gozo's typical rural attraction. The same with the squares, like the ones in Victoria: St George's, St Augustine and St Francis squares are merely car parks.

Abroad, they have squares where no cars are allowed, with benches, trees and cafés, or parks in the middle of cities where one can relax and get away from the hustle and bustle, noise and the fumes.

What most of our 'cafés' offer has to be consumed in an atmosphere polluted by noise and emissions.

All this is highly worrying and needs to be tackled before it's too late.

Why wait till next saturday to see confusion? Try parking in Victoria on any day after 8 a.m. !

When the Government decides to solve the Victoria parking problem, and takes action, maybe your vision of having car-free squares will materialise. However as long as the authorities stay with crossed hands I fear the situation will worsen.

BTW just be in Victoria next Saturday to see the confusion when no one could park in St Augustine's due to the International fashion Show happening there.....I assure you it will be a nightmare.
