The Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce is introducing a new course on plastic canvas. This is a lightweight plastic material with regularly spaced holes in imitation of embroidery canvas. It is typically used as a foundation for or other embroidery, usually in acrylic or wool knitting yarn.

Due to its rigidity, it is useful for creating three-dimensional objects such as tissue box covers, small jewellery boxes, handbags and other decorative objects. The course will start next month and will consist of a three-hour morning lesson, once a week for nine weeks. The cost of the course is €37.27.

Application forms, registrations and more details can be obtained from the Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, Palazzo De La Salle, 219 Republic Street, Valletta from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m (tel: 2124 4339, 2124 4400, e-mail info@artsmalta.org or visit www.artsmalta.org).
