Are you dancing with the devil? Are you letting money slip through your fingers? These questions will be explored at the Institute of Health and Safety's conference entitled 'Health and safety: the seven deadly sins', being held at the Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort, St Julian's on Thursday at 1 p.m.

Ian Waldram, one of the trustees of the UK's Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), will be speaking at the conference. The theme for the afternoon will be 'The business case in favour of managing health and safety at work effectively', on the basis of evidence, which shows there are real and tangible benefits to be gained in this way.

The seven deadly sins in health and safety will be revealed at the conference and Waldram and other speakers from the local industry will suggest strategies, whereby companies can begin to avoid them, thus reaping the benefits of effective health and safety management.

Chris Hudson, director of training and consultancy at HIS, revealed that persuading IOSH to send such a respected speaker was quite a coup, which reflects the importance this world-renowned organisation attaches to supporting professional development in the field of health and safety.

He said he felt that all those attending would experience a worthwhile, stimulating and enjoyable event, which would also provide practical ideas for achieving greater business efficiency.

Places are still available and further details may be obtained by calling 2131 1966 or e-mailing info@ihs.com.mt.
