For the second year running, Din l-Art Ħelwa is holding a photographic competition on the marine environment in order to raise awareness about the importance and state of the coastline and surrounding waters of the Maltese islands.

The initiative constitutes part of the Blue Campaign undertaken by the heritage and environmental organisation and is open to diving schools, clubs, students, lovers of the environment and the public.

There are two categories for photographic entries. One is for photographs showing sea pollution or the negative effects of human activity on the sea or coastal environment.

The second category is for photographs showing the beauty and unique qualities of underwater life.

Members of the public intending to take part in the competition are requested to write to Din l-Art Ħelwa, c/o Stanley Farrugia Randon, 133 Melita Street, Valletta, and are to pick up their application forms and terms and conditions from the same address by not later than the end of July.

The closing date for entries is September 7, and the results will be announced on September 26. A prize of €240 will be awarded to each of the winning entries in the two photographic categories.
