The Malta Transport Authority said this afternoon that as from Tuesday, no vehicle road licences will be renewed at its offices at Floriana or by post. Only exceptional case vehicles with VRT discrepancies will be processed over the counter until further notice.

The authority said owners will be able to renew their licences either on-line through the e-Vera system which can be accessed through www.licenzji-vetturi.gov.mt or through their insurance agencies. If processed on-line, the road licence disc will be sent by the authority to the address specified by the user by registered mail at no extra charge, within three working days.

Those renewing at their insurance agencies will be provided with the road licence disc instantly, providing a one-stop-shop service to the customer.

At present, close to 90% of all road licence renewals are being processed on-line or through insurance providers.

To access the online system, users only require the last four numbers of the engine number of their vehicle which may be found on their registration certificate (log book), the ID card number of the registered owner of the vehicle, and a debit or credit card. On-line payment with a credit card on this website is guaranteed as completely safe and secure.
