MLP vigilance board agrees to amnesty

MLP to take part in rent law reform discussion

The MLP Vigilance Board has agreed to a request by party leader Joseph Muscat to grant an amnesty to all those in any way punished by the board, Dr Muscat has announced.

He had requested the amnesty so that the party could start a new chapter.

Speaking at San Gwann, Dr Muscat also referred to the Mistra disco controversy and said it was unacceptable that the Prime Minister had not yet spoken on the political implications of this scandal which had muddied Maltese democracy.

Dr Muscat said the people expected an explanation from the Prime Minister on the actions and behaviour of Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando.

Dr Muscat also referred to the granting of pairing for a vote in Parliament earlier this week. He said the MLP had acted responsibly and expected its actions to be reciprocated.

He also congratulated Paul Borg Olivier on his appointment at PN general secretary.

Turning to the White Paper on rent law reform, which will be announced today, Dr Muscat said the MLP would participate in the debate and would also be speaking to all those having an interest in the issue.
