Filthy St George's Road

How pathetic the situation in St Georges Road, St Julians has become. The traffic is heavy and the parking is very limited at least till Pender Place parking becomes available again. But the worst is the filth. I challenge the appropriate authorities to publish how many tickets wardens have issued for littering in the area, especially between Wembley Garage and Burger King.

Rather than going round and round concentrating on issuing parking tickets, the wardens should also clamp down on those people who litter the area. They would have a field day.

But it's obviously much more difficult because it's a face-to-face situation, so the warden will choose the easy way out.

Finally hats off to the two street sweepers who tirelessly have over the past several years cleaned the area once every day at 8 a.m. Well done. But it's not enough! Washing the road a couple of times a week should be considered.

I wish the local council would act in a definite way on this issue for the benefit of all, but especially so the area looks a bit more tidy.
