Obituary
FENECH. On June 25, the day after his 90th birthday, at Casa Arkati, Mosta, JOHN, widower of Vivienne, née Schembri, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved children Patrick and his wife Jackie, David and his wife Elizabeth, Marthese and her husband Lauro Abela, Cecilia, Elizabeth and her husband Charles Bartolo, his grandchildren Oliver, Valerie, Andrew, Claire, James, Peter and Miles, his sister Agnese, his brother Carmelo, and Evy Schembri, widow of his brother-in-law, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Casa Arkati today at 2 p.m. for St Helen's Basilica, Birkirkara, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.
Special thanks go to all the staff at Casa Arkati for their professional care and dedication. Always in our hearts and prayers. May the Good Lord grant him eternal rest.
GRECH. On June 25, at her residence, KARMENA née Caruana, of Żurrieq residing at Balzan, aged 90, widow of Carmelo, proprietor of Smart Supermarket, passed away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Katy, Lucy, Helen, Doris, Marlene, Twanny, Joe, Victor, Mario, Lawrence, Josephine widow of her son Pawlu, their spouses, her in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves her residence tomorrow at 9 a.m. for St Theresa Sanctuary, Birkirkara, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m. followed by interment at Balzan cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar il-Wens will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. The management of Smart Supermarket would like to announce that the establishment will be closed tomorrow morning but will reopen from noon till 9 p.m.
SPITERI. On June 25, ROSE, of Qawra, passed away at Mater Dei Hospital. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Joseph, her children Darleen and her husband Philip Chircop, Fabio and his fiancée Alisen and Karl, her grandchildren Aidan and Kyle, her brother Henry, her brothers and sisters-in-law Doris, Charlie, Rita, Annie, Antionette and Monica and their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 9 a.m. for Qawra parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 10 a.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Hospice Movement will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

A Mass for the repose of her soul will be said on June 29 at 9.50 a.m. at the convent of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart, Fleur-de-Lys, Birkirkara. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Manga art for teens
The Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce will be holding a course titled Manga Art For Teens.
The course is aimed at teenagers who would like to develop skills in the Japanese cartoon art form.
The course will include the basics how to draw Manga-style (facial expressions, eyes, hair, etc.) and how to draw some popular Manga characters. It starts in mid-July and will consist of a three-hour morning lesson, once a week for nine weeks. The cost is €37.27.

Religious celebrations
The celebration of the feast of saints Peter and Paul at Mdina Cathedral starts at 7.35 p.m. on Saturday with a procession with the relics of the saints from the Benedictine church.
At 8 p.m., Archbishop Paul Cremona will lead a solemn concelebration on the Cathedral parvis, on the opening of the Pauline Year.
The festive celebrations will continue on Sunday at 7.30 a.m. with morning prayers.
A procession leaves the cathedral at 8 a.m. to the parish church of St Paul in Rabat.
At 9.30a.m., following the procession's return to the cathedral, the Archbishop will lead a pontifical concelebration.
In the afternoon, the celebrations will start at 5, with the singing of evening prayers, followed by the reposition of the relics.
Peter's Pence
The annual collection Peter's Pence, in support of the Pope's worldwide charity initiatives, will be held during all Masses this Saturday and Sunday.
The Pope regularly sends aid to many countries hit by natural disasters or wars, as well as towards humanitarian and Christian development projects. Last year the collection in Malta totalled €33,658.21 and was distributed through the Cor Unum Pontifical Council.

Information seminar
The Faculty of Engineering will be holding an information seminar on its new courses on July 4. The University of Malta is offering new degree courses to meet today's engineering and technological needs, covering the areas of electrical engineering, electronic engineering, systems and control engineering, mechanical and industrial engineering.

Sliema Band Club radio
The Sliema Band Club is running its community radio, Radiosacrocuorsliema, on the frequency FM 94 stereo. Transmissions cover 24 hours each day and include direct broadcasts from the parish church of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Sliema; a breakfast show; discussion programmes; interviews with various personalities; programmes related to historical events; culture; music and sports.
The radio service ends on the feast of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to be celebrated in Sliema on July 6.
Engineering, ICT project exhibitions
The faculties of Engineering and ICT at the University of Malta will be holding their annual final-year student project exhibitions on July 4.
Aimed to showcase the skills and creativity of the students as they prepare to graduate and embark on their chosen career, the exhibitions are also designed to raise the public's awareness of engineering and ICT.
Visitors will meet the students who will explain and demonstrate their work. This is also an opportunity for anyone interested in enrolling for an engineering or ICT degree course and for secondary school students who are still debating their choice of subjects and career.
The Engineering Projects Exhibition will be held in the Engineering Building (car park 2) and will be open to the public on July 4 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on July 5 from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m.
The ICT Projects Exhibition will be open on July 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. in Dar Ġużeppi Zahra (Computer Building, car park 2).
