First-class ballet dancer for summer school

Moscow Ballet State Theatre prima ballerina Elisabeth Nebesnaya will return to Malta to take part in the Third International Summer School in July.

The summer school is being organised by the Central Academy of Ballet and will be held between July 21 and 26. It will once again give Maltese dance students the opportunity of working with an international prima ballerina, gaining from her broad experience and professionalism in the field.

The College of Jazz dance co-director Justin Roy Barker will also be a guest artist during the summer school.

Ms Nebesnaya holds a first-class degree from the Russian Arts Academy specialising in teaching choreography. She is a Distinguished Artist of Russia, laureate of international competitions and holder of the prize for preserving classical traditions in choreography.

All Maltese dance students are welcome to apply for the summer school, which aims to bring students from various dance schools together in an atmosphere of fun and exchange with high-calibre international guests.

Students who have attended the Second International Summer School are encouraged to reapply, as content for this year's programme will be varied and different from last year's.

Four courses will be offered as part of the Third International Summer School. Courses A (grades one to four) and B (grades five to six), for students aged between eight and 11 and 12 to 14 years respectively, will include classes in jazz, Russian/folk, ballet and repertoire. Lessons for these courses and for Course C will be concentrated in the mornings.

Courses C (advanced one) and D (advanced two) will focus on classes in ballet, jazz and repertoire. Lessons for course D will also be held in the afternoon.

Attendance costs are €140 (Lm60.08) for Course A, €170 (Lm72.96) for Course B, €190 (Lm81.55) for Course C and €240 (Lm103) for Course D.

Bookings are accepted on full payment until the first week of July.
