Bank plants 300 trees in various localities
Bank of Valletta has planted another 300 trees in six different localities, having committed itself to planting 50 in every locality since it launched this tree-planting initiative last August.
So far, 800 trees, including olive, carob, sandarac pine, oak and aleppo pine, all indigenous of the Maltese islands, have been planted at 16 localities. The latest localities to benefit from the initiative were Mdina, Xgħajra, Kalkara, Rabat, Swieqi and Mqabba.
At Mdina, the trees were planted at Howard Gardens while in Swieqi they were planted in the Wied Għomor Valley, a popular picnic spot.
The trees at Rabat were planted at the picturesque Id-Dwejra, which is highly protected and is very popular among Maltese families.
In Kalkara the new trees occupy idyllic areas surrounded by historic fortifications. In Xgħajra and Mqabba, areas being embellished were selected.
