Six Maltese models have been chosen for a unique opportunity to showcase their talent to an international audience at the Malta International Fashion Show next week, joining another 30 foreign counterparts.

The show, which is being staged in Gozo's St Augustin Square on July 5, is being aired on the Italian channel TV Moda - the 24-hour fashion station, hosted by its owner and personality Jo Squillo.

In fact, Gozo has already been featuring in three-minute clips every hour on the station for three weeks, the aim of the event being also to market the island overseas. These clips are being shown until the event.

Meanwhile, the anticipated list of prestigious designer houses is at hand. They include Roberto Cavalli, Gianfranco Ferré, Rocco Barocco, Ferragamo, Vivienne Westwood, Etro, John Richmond, Blumarine, Gucci, Giorgio Armani - top labels, whose to-die-for collections are to be paraded along the open-air catwalk to the delight of not only lovers of fashion but of anything beautiful.

Maltese designer duo, Charles and Ron, are once again using the international fashion show platform to launch their autumn/winter C&R collection, which was recently previewed at the Malta Fashion Awards.

A celebrity model could also be joining the scene but Renaissance Productions Ltd, the organisers of the event, are still in talks, its directors Anton Tabone and Amabile Zammit said.

They are also still in talks with the stunning Alena Seredova, partner of Italy's star goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon, but it depended on the outcome of his football. The fact that Italy lost to Spain on Sunday could mean more of a chance of them coming over.

The organisers said the fun would not be over after the show, which is being hosted by Ms Squillo in person.

It is set to continue with an after-party at La Grotta, organised by Renaissance Productions and Xfm. VIP ticket holders (€60) are entitled to attend the Rebelli VIP lounge that is being set up at the venue and which should be attended by the models and the TV Moda crew. Otherwise, an entrance fee of €8 is being charged.

Silver tickets are also available at €35, all from maltaticket.com, Vodafone outlets, Arkadia in Gozo, Agenda Bookshops and Exotique.

The event is being organised also in collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority, and with the assistance of the Gozo Ministry.
