Complete apathy in education reform - MUT

Almost nothing from the education reform agreement has been implemented even though it was signed over a year ago, the Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) said.

This laissez-faire attitude did not augur well for the forthcoming scholastic year, the union noted, adding that "there is complete apathy in all sectors because of this stagnation".

The MUT is concerned that a number of calls for new applications have not been heeded, including one for regular kindergarten assistants. It claimed that, due to this lengthy delay, hundreds of kindergarten assistants were frustrated because they were working in an atmosphere of uncertainty without a regular contract.
