Due to unavoidable technical hitches, the Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra is to be replaced by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra for Joseph Calleja's Pavarotti Tribute Concert to be held on July 12 in Valletta. The orchestra will be led by Brian Schembri.

Concert organisers NnG Promotions said the international tenor is confident the event will be a huge success. Both he and Maestro Schembri are familiar with the orchestra and feel the combination of Maltese performers will create a special chemistry for a unique evening.

Nigel Camilleri, director of NnG, said it was on Mr Calleja's suggestion that they requested the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.

Although there will be absolutely no change in the concert's announced repertoire, NnG Promotions are offering a full refund to anyone who has bought a ticket and no longer wishes to attend due to the change.

Joseph Calleja's repertoire will include some of the best-loved pieces by Puccini, Verdi and Leoncavallo, immortalised by the legendary Pavarotti. He will be accompanied by Nataliya Kovalova and George Petean.
