Malta International Airport plc has accepted an invitation to join the Red Cross Society of Malta as corporate members.

CEO Julian Jaeger presented a sponsorship cheque to Frederick Fenech, president of the Malta Red Cross Society, which should contribute towards the Red Cross voluntary services that are increasingly in demand.

Prof. Fenech explained that the Malta Red Cross Society is a voluntary organisation that forms part of the International Red Cross and the Red Crescent Movement that depend very much on financial support given by private and public organisations. He said MIA's membership would enhance the society's image by bringing on board yet another of Malta's leading entities.

Mr Jaeger said the support extended is in line with MIA's commitment to assist and contribute towards voluntary organisations that play an important role in the day-to-day life of Maltese society, particularly the less fortunate.

The sponsorship agreement also envisages a number of courses in first aid conducted for MIA employees by the Red Cross.
