The Nationalist Party this evening officially inaugurated its newly re-built headquarters in Pieta.
Prime Minister and Party leader Lawrence Gonzi in an address said the ceremony brought together the party’s achievements of the past and its hopes and ambitions for the future.
He said this new building symbolised the values the PN held dear, including sound foundations on which national policies were built, respect for the dignity of the human person, the importance of the family, education, technology, environmental protection, solidarity, quality of life, equality and service to society.
Dr Gonzi also pointed out the art work by Luciano Micallef at the entrance, with the words “ We welcome you here, where ideas are born so that hopes are realised”. This, he said, was the reason why the PN was set up.
Dr Gonzi thanked all previous PN leaders for their service, which had enabled the country and the party to progress to what they were now.
PN general secretary Joe Saliba thanked all those who had worked on the project, saying it had been a long, hard, but ultimately rewarding project.
The ceremony included the raising of the PN flag, blessing by the Archbishop and the unveiling of art works.
