Dockers hit out at GWU
The Malta Dockers Union (MDU) has accused the GWU leadership of “shameful and irresponsible” behaviour aimed at dividing its membership.
The MDU said attacks and rumours being spread by the GWU were aimed at disrupting talks currently in progress between the MDU and the Malta Freeport management. The talks are aimed at securing a new agreement with better conditions for the workers as the freeport goes through an investment phase.
The MDU said it was consulting the workers on whether they would like to see a fourth shift introduced.

Let’s give the port workers a free vote and see if they want the MDU or the GWU to lead them? The port workers realized who took them for a ride. The GWU never touched a cent from the millions the port workers had in their fund. ..... Which democratic union gives its members the right to vote but they have to put their signature on it. The MDU with its inexperience leadership is trying to blame the GWU for its gaffe.

@ D Bonello
60's is written and spelled as sixties, not sixthies,
while coffe is also written and spelled as coffee, when in doubt, consult a dictionary while sipping your cup of coffee, and today is the 21st of June 2008, not 2001.

The GWU has learned nothing of her past mischiefs at the cost of the workers. The saga of the Phoenicia workers, the SeaMalta workers and the present plight of the Drydocks workers to mention just a few are not enough to make the Union change direction and work in the interest of the workers and Malta in general.
