Net News report on anonymous e-mails

Lino Spiteri (June 16) says that "elements within the PN media" helped those within the MLP who were campaigning against George Abela with anonymous e-mails carrying a photo singling out Dr Abela's daughter in a PN meeting. To put matters straight, Net News aired the report about the anonymous e-mail only after the second round between Joseph Muscat and George Abela was over and, thus, without influencing the outcome of the election. We did not want to play the game of the Labour "rats" but neither did we want to let this element of the venomous leadership campaign pass unnoticed. That is why we decided to publish two days after the leadership election, on Sunday, June 8.
