I have been following the numerous complaints on Maltapost in this newspaper. They range from complaints about outright ignorance to those involving lethargy. I think anybody can recall some experience but for those who need to move hard documents, it still remains an essential service.

We have decided to employ couriers to handle important stuff. Maltapost cannot be trusted. It has lost our trust. This is the kind of staff they employ: Recently, we needed to employ an operator with our company and we gave applicants an IQ test. Unbelievable but true, the people interested in the job barely got 25 per cent of the marks. The test involved basic questions which even an idiot can work out.

So we employed the person with the "highest" IQ. This person was a poor performer - always running to the toilet, leaving his equipment and barely producing 18 per cent of a day's work. I was on the verge of firing him when he came to me and said he wanted to speak to me. He had found a better job, he said, and would like to tender his resignation. I was relieved and asked him who would be his lucky new employer. Maltapost!

I asked him how had he had succeeded in securing it. Easy, he said. He spoke to somebody at the local post office and was told he could start from Monday. When I asked him why he preferred to go there he replied: A worry free job without hard work! Need I say more?
