Mepa's major projects unit has processed or is processing 13 applications for the construction of high-rise buildings, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi told Charles Buhagiar (MLP) in reply to a parliamentary question.

The high-rise buildings are planned for the Maltacom site at Qawra; the former Empire Stadium at Gżira; Fort Cambridge, Fortina Hotel and Townsquare, all at Sliema; near the Save On supermarket at Paola; and at Mistra Village at Xemxija. There are two applications each for the Tigné project at Sliema, Mira Motors at Gżira and Pender Place at St Julians.
