A man from Ħamrun was yesterday handed down an 18-month jail term suspended for three years after he pleaded guilty to damaging eight cars in acts of vandalism.
Magistrate Doreen Clarke heard John Xerri, 37, admit to damaging the cars over a period of one year. After taking into consideration the amount of damage caused, which ranged from €116.57 (Lm50) to €1,165 (Lm500), Magistrate Clarke handed down the sentence.
Police Inspectors Ramon Mercieca and Joseph Agius prosecuted. Lawyers José Herrera and Veronique Dalli appeared for Mr Xerri.
